ABOUT JELLI
Jelli was founded in 2008 by Michael Dougherty and Jateen Parekh, veterans of Microsoft and Amazon, who shared the dream of controlling the radio by remote control. From this “impossible” idea came the seeds of Jelli, a platform which allowed users to directly control the music that was played via an Internet stream, using an online interface. In June of 2009, CBS rock station KITS (“Live 105”) decided to make Parekh and Dougherty’s dream closer to reality, putting Jelli on the air on Sunday nights. For the first time, users could control the music that came through the radio.
In September of 2009, Triton Media and Jelli announced a partnership, creating the opportunity for Jelli to be broadcast across the United States. Part game, part social network, part radio station, Jelli is redefining radio and its relationship with the audience.
In the first quarter of 2010, the smartphone app of Jelli is planned for release, and Jateen and Michael’s dream of controlling the radio by remote control will become a reality across the United States.
